KENT, OH – The School of Fashion at Kent State University is pleased to announce British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes as the 2024 Hall of Fame Inductee.

  • Several Kent State University students, including Julia Fedor, Gabriel MacWilliams, Emilee Sanor, Emma Grace Homoky, Sarah Basler, Brian Ruppel and Jake McQuaid participated in the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Intercollegiate Band April 4- 6.

  • The Kent State University Women’s Center kicked off the first annual G.E.A.R. Awards this semester. The G.E.A.R. Awards stands for Gender, Equity, Advocacy and Representation. In the College of the Arts, Caitlin Kane, Ph.D., Linda Hoeptner-Poling, Ph.D. and Sohaela Rojas, a fashion merchandising student, were nominated for the award. 

  • On March 20-22, the School of Fashion’s KnitLAB hosted KnitFUTURES: a symposium to energize the advancement of knitting to support people, environment, and place across disciplines, and to engage researchers from both academia and industry for conversation, knowledge exchange and collaboration.

  • The Living in The Arts Living-Learning Community, located in Prentice Hall, opened the doors to its new and improved studio space with an open house to explore and learn about all the new attributes of the updated creative studio.  

  • Olivia Meyer, a senior Honors College fashion merchandising student, has won the Chairman's Award for the Fashion Scholarship Fund 2024 Case Study Competition. Meyer competed against hundreds of other applicants across the country, creating an ESG-focused case study for the brand Sheertex.

    The School of Music alumni network comprises a global ensemble of music performers and educators embedded in the world's most prestigious musical institutions. The school is one of the busiest on campus. Music pours out of practice studios, ensembles gather for rehearsal, faculty members attend student recitals and highly coveted guest artists teach master classes.
